What comes to your mind when you hear the word robotics?
Something with arms, legs ,head and a human like body with crisp machine voice.
But there's a catch , actually robot is a machine which can perform even a single task automatically. Just this definition changes many things for the perspective of a robot you had.
Considering this definition actually the thing popular as a robot is called a Humanoid something similar to an android.
A combination of Electronics, Mechanics, Programming and Civil engineering is required to build something like a robot . But you don't need to be an expert in any field ,just have a basic understanding of how things work. Many don't take intrest in the topic thinking it's too complicated but actually it's not.
If you would ask me ,what robotics is?
My answer would be that, it is a way to convert your dreams into reality. But there are several stages to that dream.
You have to think of an idea (problem and solution together).
Then form the logic (conditions).
Decide the hardware.
Write an algorithm.
Write program.
Assemble prototype (assemble electronics in simple form).
Test the program for bugs.
Assemble the final robot.
All of it may sound like a lot of work, but when you actually start hands-on it can be done in around 4 hours for the simple projects.
There are actually a few prerequisites :
You need to have a very basic understanding of electronics (it's easy and fun).
You need to have a little background information about microcontrollers. I suggest reading the Arduino introduction blog on this website.
Basic mechanics skills(nut-bolts, creating cardboard base, wiring, etc).
A basic understanding of any programming language (even scratch).
Interest and lots of determination.
You can choose your level and develope it at a pace you like, it's an awesome hobby with unlimited opportunities.
